Several organizations and local businesses came out to lend a helping hand and assisted us with our efforts to educate and raise awareness while helping the entire Gambier Community,” said Prodesta Moore, the Executive Director of Bahamas Urban Youth Development Center.
We must make people aware of the impact the HIV is having on the Country especially among young people. These kinds of events help to bring about awareness and provide up-to-date information about HIV/AIDS prevention, HIV care and treatment and treatment providers to support people who are affected and infected by HIV. The event had a live remote, free giveaways, entertainment and food and drinks for the entire family. It was very well attended.
This event was provided through the support and funding by PEPFAR, the Bahamas Family Planning, Bahamas Urban Youth Development Center, the Rotary Club of East Nassau, OraSure, Coca Cola, The Bahamas Red Cross, SASH Bahamas, Holiday Ice, and Chelsea’s Water. A total of 41 persons got tested and as a result “Know their HIV Status”. For more information about future events, please call the Bahamas Urban Youth Development Center 356-0672.
